Join the VNS Health Volleyball Team!

August 25, 2022–VNS Health is starting a co-ed Volleyball Team, with the first games set to be played in the winter season. If you are interested in joining, please click here to fill out the form to let us know! Here are the answers to some questions you may have: Do you care about skill level? While all skill levels are welcome, a knowledge of the rules and some experience is preferred. Are the games only in Manhattan or are they in other boroughs as well? Yes, all games are only played in Manhattan. The game locations will vary across Manhattan, but will mostly be played from the Village (14th Street) to upper Manhattan (168th Street). When are the games held? Are they typically on weekday evenings or on the weekends? Games are played on weekday evenings. The start times will vary between 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.

Don’t Miss the “Empowerment Self-Defense 101” Safety Awareness Workshop on September 14

August 25, 2022–This introductory physical self-defense training will teach team members fundamental blocks and strikes to get away safely. Team members will learn practical ways to manage distance while using footwork and complete exercises and drills to improve your muscle memory when responding to sudden physical attacks. VNS Health has partnered with a local nonprofit organization called the Center for Anti-Violence Education (CAE) to provide a series of self-defense safety workshops. These educational safety awareness workshops provide precautions, verbal strategies, and physical techniques to increase safety and teach you how to handle potential conflicts. Community Collaborations Hosts Webinar on “Suicide Prevention”

August 24, 2022–On Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, VNS Health’s Community Collaborations and Connect2Well will host a presentation on “Suicide Prevention” to raise awareness of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. In this presentation, participants will learn about common suicide risks and the warning signs that you should know. Awareness can help stop these tragic deaths. *This presentation is eligible for 1 Continuing Education Credit for Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and Licensed Clinical Social Worker(LCSWS) for VNS Health team members. The Social Work Continuing Education Credit evaluation will be sent to attendees after the conclusion of the session. VNS Health Virtual Juneteenth Event

June 17, 2022–Juneteenth (June 19th) is a federal holiday that commemorates the day in 1865 when the last enslaved Americans were freed in accordance with the Emancipation Proclamation.  Join us on Tuesday, June 21st, from 11 AM to 1 PM for a virtual VNS Health event commemorating Juneteenth. This special event will feature guest speaker, Dr. CarolAnn Daniel, Professor of Social Work at Adelphi University. Event Details: Date & Time: Tuesday, June 21, 11 AM – 1 PM  Workshop: Juneteenth and the historical legacy of race and racism in contemporary American life The workshop will provide participants with a deeper understanding of Juneteenth, an introductory overview of race and racism in the U.S., and its effects on people who identify as Black. Community Collaborations Hosts “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Bill of Rights” Webinar

June 9, 2022–On Thursday, June 16th, from 2 – 3 PM, Community Collaborations will host an “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Bill of Rights” webinar in celebration of Pride Month. This presentation aims to empower the LGBTQ+ community and their allies with information about their health rights under the law. The PRIDE March Is Sunday, June 26

May 26, 2022–The Pride March Is Back! Register to march as VNS Health in support of our LGBTQ+ neighbors! Join your VNS Health colleagues and march in the 2022 PRIDE March on Sunday, June 26. This year, we’ll be so proud to march as one VNS Health! Unfortunately, Heritage of Pride is limiting us to 100 marchers in addition to our spectacular float! Register as soon as possible to reserve your spot! All marchers will receive a VNS Health 2022 PRIDE March t-shirt. You must be registered in order to march.
