Don’t Miss the “Empowerment Self-Defense 101” Safety Awareness Workshop on September 14

August 25, 2022

This introductory physical self-defense training will teach team members fundamental blocks and strikes to get away safely. Team members will learn practical ways to manage distance while using footwork and complete exercises and drills to improve your muscle memory when responding to sudden physical attacks.

VNS Health has partnered with a local nonprofit organization called the Center for Anti-Violence Education (CAE) to provide a series of self-defense safety workshops. These educational safety awareness workshops provide precautions, verbal strategies, and physical techniques to increase safety and teach you how to handle potential conflicts.

Our safety awareness workshops are open to all VNS Health employees. Please note, though, that in order to attend you will need to register — which you can easily do by clicking on the links below.

Here are the details for the next safety awareness workshop:

  • Empowerment Self-Defense 101 Safety Awareness Workshop (in-person at our 220 East 42nd Street Office and also streamed live online): Wednesday, September 14th, 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. To register, click here
    • (Please note that this in-person workshop is limited to the first 70 team members who register for it. Team members who register will be notified to confirm that they’ll be attending. The workshop will be streamed for all those who can’t be there in person. It’ll also be recorded so you can watch it at a later date.)

Missed either of the two previous workshops on de-escalation safety or public safety?  Don’t worry — you can watch a recording of it on the Safety & Security Intranet site by clicking here. Please note that the recording will only be available for viewing until September 30th.
