NY1 Noticias and Univision41 Cover Annual VNS Health Turkey Giveaway

Ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, NY1 Noticias and Univision41 shared heartwarming stories highlighting the annual Health Plans turkey giveaway in Washington Heights, led by our Health Plans Outreach Team. The stories include powerful images of our mission in action as VNS Health team members joined community members to distribute hundreds of turkeys, giving back to those they serve.

The Wall Street Journal Features RN Constance Evans for Her Compassion and Dedication

The Wall Street Journal published a touching and heartwarming piece about nurse Constance Evans and how she helped one patient find hope and healing during the toughest days of the COVID-19 pandemic. The first-person piece, “Constance Gave Me My Life Back,” is told from the perspective of a patient Constance cared for as they recovered from a hip fracture.

PoliticsNY and amNY announced their annual “Power Players in Health Care” list, with CEO and President Dan Savitt featured as one of New York’s most influential leaders in the health care field. The list spotlights those who have dedicated their careers to ensuring the health and wellness of all New Yorkers while also pioneering positive change and innovation in the industry.

PIX11, New York Social Diary, and Others Spotlight VNS Health’s 2023 Benefit Gala

In a special spot for PIX11, news anchor Kori Chambers recounted his experience hosting VNS Health’s 2023 Benefit Gala, and emphasized the outsized impact VNS Health has on improving the health of all New Yorkers. In addition, New York Social Diaryshared fun pictures from the night, including candid shots of Behavioral Health VP Manisha Vijayaraghavan,  Health Home Program Director Natasha Dixon,  and Health Home Program Case Manager Akelia Peart. The event was also featured in the daily “First Read” newsletter from New York Nonprofit Media.

As the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced their finalized home health cuts for fiscal year 2024, CEO and President Dan Savitt was featured in three high-level stories about the effect these cuts will have on the home health industry. Dan spoke to the negative impact the cuts will have on accessibility to home care, especially for the most vulnerable in the community.

Natalie Kovacs, Parachute Program Coordinator, Speaks to Authority Magazine About Innovative Approaches to Schizophrenia Treatment

An in-depth Q&A with Natalie Kovacs, coordinator of VNS Health Behavioral Health’s Parachute program,was published in Authority Magazine. In the Q&A, which delves into family-led approaches to treating schizophrenia. Natalie shares how the Parachute program utilizes a unique interdisciplinary approach to address the health of an individual with severe mental illness, and how her team incorporates friends and family into clients’ treatment plans.

A new story on the importance of compassion in nursing puts the expert perspective of Clinical Director Monica Cayemitte front and center. The piece, published on NursingColleges.com, provides advice and guidance on how nurses can remain caring in the face of challenges, as well as the importance of treating colleagues with compassion. As Monica notes, “I believe that if you go into nursing for the right reasons, which is to help, then compassion is one of those core skills you will bring to every patient interaction.”

Daily Nurse and Home Health Care News Spotlight Columbia Nursing and VNS Health Study on Verbal Communication During In-Home Visits

Home Health Care News and Daily Nurse both published stories highlighting findings from a new study from Columbia Nursing, undertaken in collaboration with VNS Health researchers and clinicians. The study reveals the importance of integrating patient-nurse verbal communication data into patient risk identification models for home health care. VNS Health Clinical Researcher Maryam Zolnoori provided insight for both stories on what the results mean, and how they can be used to improve patient care.

Home Care Association of New York State Features Q&A with Lauren Campbell

Lauren Campbell, Director, Emergency Management and Employee Safety, was featured in the Home Care Association of New York’s “Member Spotlight” Q&A series, where Lauren spoke about her career journey and how she became interested in emergency management. In addition, Lauren provided tips and advice for others working on these issues in the home health industry.

Mott Haven Herald Reports on Expansion of Behavioral Health Services in the Bronx

A story in The Mott Haven Herald reports on a recent vote by NYC Community Board 1’s Health & Human Services and Seniors committee. The committee voted to recommend the full board write a letter of support to the NYC Office of Mental Health, supporting the expansion of VNS Health’s Behavioral Health programs that provide assessment and treatment for residents with substance use disorder in the Bronx.In the article, Patricia Kissi, Director, Treatment Programs, applauded the committees’ decision and explained how support for expanded services will help reach vulnerable populations, particularly youth.

New York Nonprofit Media shared the news that VNS Health’s successful Hospice Education Campaign is expanding to Brooklyn. The story highlighted the program’s is specific focus on reaching Asian-American communities who may not be familiar with hospice care.
