Hundreds of National and Local Media Outlets Share News of VNS Health’s Partnership with Elderwood Health Plan

The announcement of VNS Health’s new partnership with Elderwood Health Plan was shared by local news organizations, including WPIX11 (NYC), WIVB (Buffalo), RochesterFirst.com, and WTEV (Rochester), as well as by large national outlets like The Associated Press, Yahoo! Finance,and many others. The announcement details how the partnership will help strengthen managed long-term care (MLTC) plans in western New York, and how this will help ensure a seamless transition for the plans’ members, staff, and providers.  

In addition, influential regional news outlets Buffalo Business First and Buffalo News published features detailing the economic benefits of the partnership and how it will help bolster care for MLTC members.

OpEd from CEO Dan Savitt Calls on NY Lawmakers to Protect MLTC Plans

In a powerful opinion piece, CEO and President Dan Savitt explains why MLTC plans are critically important to keeping some of the most vulnerable in our community healthy. The piece, published by the USA Today Network, which includes The Democrat and Chronicle, The Messenger, Little Falls Evening Times, and The Press & Sun Bulletin, calls on New York lawmakers to reject legislation that would eliminate MLTC plans in the state, and explains how these plans are an important way for many New Yorkers to stay independent and healthy in their homes.

Tara Noto Speaks to the Important Work of VNS Health’s IMT Teams in Crain’s

Crain’s Health Pulse featured Behavioral Health VP Tara Noto in an article announcing a $34 million contract between New York City’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and VNS Health’s Intensive Mobile Treatment (IMT) program. The contract will support two new IMT teams covering Brooklyn, Staten Island and Queens. The article also references work already being done in the NYC area by five other VNS Health IMT teams, which are made up of behavioral health specialists, nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, peer advocates, prescribers and others.

NY1 Shares Story of VNS Health Hosting Special Lunar New Year Concert for Chinatown NNORC Member

In a story tied to last month’s Lunar New Year celebrations, NY1 aired a heartwarming story about how VNS Health and its partners brought a special in-home concert to a 100-year-old member of the VNS Health Chinatown NNORCand her family. The piece features perspective from VNS Health Chinatown NNORC Manager Helen Sit, who explains why these celebrations and activities mean so much to the homebound seniors they serve.

McKnight’s Shares Inspiring Story About HHA Desmond Asare

McKnight’s weekly “Home Sweet Home” column featured a story on the brave and quick-thinking work of VNS Health HHA Desmond Asare, who provided life-saving cardiopulmonary resuscitation to one of his clients. The story details how Desmond was caring for a client he had a special bond with, when his client collapsed and Desmond turned to his expert training, providing CPR until EMTs arrived. In the article, Desmond explains how the incident helped bring him even closer with his client and their family, and speaks to his desire to continue pursuing a career in health care by starting nursing training.

Hospice News Spotlights VNS Health’s Innovative Approach to Clinician Onboarding

A new story in Hospice Newslooks at some of the leading hospice providers across the country, and the many ways they’re working to effectively onboard and support clinicians new to the field. The story features thoughtful takeaways from Hospice Education Manager Laura Garcia and Onboarding Manager Kristin Guernier on how the VNS Health Hospice Care team helps new clinicians succeed, including the importance of ongoing interdisciplinary education as well as our successful preceptor program.

Another Win for the Hospice Care Team!

The Center to Advance Palliative Care has announced the winners of its “New York City Tipping Point Challenge,” and VNS Health Hospice Care is one of the winning teams selected from across the city. The goal of the clinical training challenge was to help health care organizations expand the ability to effectively care for seriously ill patients by enhancing skills among clinicians from all medical specialties and disciplines who work with hospice patients.
