When Lauren Dauro started with VNSNY Hospice and Palliative Care as a consultant, she’d been brought in to develop a system for billing and accounts payable. By the time that project was finished, she and her colleagues “had a lovely rapport,” so she joined the agency full time as a project manager.

That feeling of connection is important to her, adds Lauren. “I came from a job previously where there was office politics and gossip,” she says. “What surprised me the most was that VNSNY is such a healthy environment. Everyone here is lovely to work with. We support and help each other piece things together—people work together and respect each other.”

It’s a perfect setting for collaborating with hospice team members on the various projects that Lauren oversees. “Most projects I work on are geared toward helping the front line clinicians in various ways, both big and small, but there’s a big customer service element—my customers are my colleagues,” she says. “I’m so inspired by the dedicated, diligent people at VNSNY Hospice who go above and beyond every day. Yes, it’s why we’re here, but it’s still amazing to see the sincere and genuine commitment that our team members have for their patients.”
