What If I Want to Talk to a Doctor About Testing?

June 2, 2020

Urgent care centers, doctors’ offices and hospital outpatient clinics are available for consultation and in many cases they can offer testing at the same time (see Where Can I Get Tested?).

If you need to talk to a doctor, don’t forget that many healthcare providers now offer virtual office visits. In addition, the VNSNY (PPO options and HIP HMO), UFT-administered and 1199-administered medical plans all offer Telemedicine, which includes referrals for testing, with no co-pays for COVID-related virtual visits.

  • VNSNY’s PPO medical options and the UFT-administered medical plan use LiveHealth Online®. You can schedule an appointment or create an account online by calling 888-548-3432 or by using the free LiveHealth Online mobile app.
  • VNSNY’s HIP HMO medical option and the 1199SEIU Benefit Fund use Teladoc®. You can schedule an appointment or create an account online by calling 800-TELA-DOC (800-835-2362) or using the free Teladoc mobile app.

You should try to avoid using an emergency room unless you have a medical emergency.
