Where Can I Get Tested?

June 2, 2020

Click here for COVID testing sites as of April 1, 2021.

New diagnostic and antibody testing sites are opening every day. In many cases, you may need a referral/order from a health care provider (doctor, pharmacist, nurse practitioner, physician assistant) in order to get tested.  Many providers will now issue the order and administer testing in one visit, and pharmacists can also now authorize testing at local pharmacies. Please note that testing is free in New York if you go to a testing site run by the state. Please see Paying for Testing for more information.

You can find providers and testing sites at the following web sites. You should call ahead or confirm on the site whether a testing site requires a referral/order from a provider. Usually this won’t be necessary if the testing site is also a healthcare provider (such as a clinic, pharmacy, urgent care center, or hospital outpatient facility) where you can see a provider and be tested in the same visit.

  • Here is a multi-state testing site search engine: Castlight Health that includes New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
  • New York City’s website also has information on city-run antibody testing sites available to NYC residents over 18 years of age.
  • New Jersey and Connecticut also have their own web sites where you can find local and community-based testing sites.
