VNSNY’s (Virtual) Gala Raises More Than $1.4 Million! Despite fervent hopes that the 2021 Benefit Gala would be an in-person event, VNSNY made the difficult decision not to host a large, indoor celebration quite yet this year. “Even though we had to pivot to a virtual event, we released a pre-recorded program video on November 11th that people can watch at their convenience,” says John Billeci, VNSNY’s Vice President of Special Events. “It contains many of the same elements that our in-person event usually has, including a video about VNSNY and the presentation of our Lillian D. A Day in the Life: Demitrious Cáceres — Community Events Assistant, VNSNY CHOICE Community Outreach

November 18, 2021–Welcome to “A Day in the Life”—a Frontline series that follows staff members from different areas of VNSNY as they go through a typical day at work. Community Events Assistants play an essential role in supporting VNSNY CHOICE’s outreach activities. On top of operating and maintaining VNSNY’s vehicle fleet, a Community Events Assistant is also responsible for securing locations for neighborhood outreach, handling setup and takedown of equipment and displays, maintaining supply inventory, and supporting outreach staff throughout the course of a day’s work. Since joining the organization this past May, Demitrious Cáceres has ensured that CHOICE SelectHealth can provide outreach to all corners of Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Westchester—VNSNY’s SelectHealth service area… since he operates the SelectHealth van! “I’ve always been a people person, so I like engaging,” explains Demitrious. “I most enjoy talking with people out in the community, and because we deal with insurance,

VNSNY CHOICE Launches Two New Medicare Advantage Plans for 2022

October 14, 2021–These new products will extend VNSNY’s mission by offering comprehensive and affordable healthcare coverage to more low-income New Yorkers. In a step that’s expected to accelerate VNSNY’s business growth and extend the reach of the organization’s 128-year-old mission, VNSNY CHOICE Health Plans has introduced two new Medicare Advantage health plans for 2022. The two plans, EasyCare and EasyCare Plus, are geared to lower-income New Yorkers, with a robust provider network and affordable premiums. Adding to the plans’ appeal is the fact that they are the only Medicare Advantage HMO plans in New York City or Long Island to have a 4.5 Star quality score (out of 5 Stars), based on the strong quality ratings of the CHOICE Total MAP plan. “We’re already serving 28,000 New Yorkers with specialized needs through our three existing plans—our Medicaid plans, CHOICE MLTC and SelectHealth, and our integrated Medicare-Medicaid plan, CHOICE Total,” says Dr. Hany

The Results Are In — Here Are the Eight VNSNY Impact Challenge Finalists!

August 16, 2021–The first round of the inaugural VNSNY Impact Challenge is now concluded, and the results have been tremendous! In all, 34 proposals from VNSNY staff were received by the July 16th deadline, including submissions by teams and by individuals. They covered a wide range of potential program launches or enhancements, all aimed at reducing health disparities in the various communities served by VNSNY. “Along with the rest of VNSNY’s leadership, I want to thank all the staff members who contributed their ideas and efforts to this competition,” says VNSNY President and CEO Dan Savitt, who was part of the review committee. “Every proposal was extremely impressive and well thought out.
