Revised Travel Restrictions and Protocol
for Return to Work

Applies to staff who travel internationally or to any state or region other than New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Vermont or Massachusetts.

Essential workers (includes all VNSNY Provider Services staff and VNSNY Corporate staff who support Provider Services) must get a COVID diagnostic test (PCR or Rapid test, at their expense) within 72 hours before returning to New York.

If the test is negative, staff may return to work immediately, and on the fourth day after returning to New York, get another COVID diagnostic test (PCR at their expense or Rapid test in one of the VNSNY offices or at a local provider. (We plan to roll out testing at the regional offices in the coming weeks, please check the VNSNY intranet for an updated schedule.) Staff can resume work if the results are negative.

Essential staff who do not get a COVID test before returning to New York must quarantine for 14 days and must utilize PTO or not be paid their time if their PTO is exhausted.

Non-essential staff must get a COVID diagnostic test (PCR or Rapid test, at their expense) within 72 hours before returning to New York then quarantine for at least 3 days from arrival then get a COVID diagnostic test (PCR at their expense or Rapid test in one of the VNSNY offices, see schedule) on day 4 in order to end quarantine.

Non-essential staff who do not get a COVID test before return to New York must quarantine for 14 days. If such staff are not authorized to work remotely, they must utilize PTO or not be paid their time if their PTO is exhausted.

A COVID diagnostic test is not required for travel to a restricted state or internationally for less than 24 hours, however, the traveler must take a COVID diagnostic test 4 days after they return to New York.
