“Strength from Within” Employee Giving Campaign Aims to Break Record

VNSNY’s Nurse-Family Partnership, which recently honored over 100 of its newest graduates in the Bronx, is just one of VNSNY’s many life-changing Charitable Care and Community Benefit programs. These programs are supported in part by donations from VNSNY’s own staff members. “In 2016, contributions by our employees to these programs set a record for both dollars raised and number of participants,” says Theodore Traver, Manager of Direct Response for VNSNY’S Development Department. “This year’s ‘Strength from Within’ campaign is aiming to keep that momentum going.”

To date, VNSNY’s employee giving campaign for 2017 has raised $38,500—more than halfway toward its $60,000 target—with donations from over 130 staff members. “While we want to reach our financial goal to help provide care to some of the most vulnerable New Yorkers we serve, what’s just as important to us is increasing VNSNY’s employee participation,” adds Theodore. “We’re urging everyone to consider making a gift, whatever the amount, between now and the end of the year.”

You can make a donation to VNSNY’s Charitable Care and Community Benefit Programs by going to the VNSNY Intranet and clicking on the “Strength from Within” link on the horizontal navigation bar at the top of the home page. This link provides options to print out a gift form, donate online with a credit card, or arrange to make a contribution through a payroll deduction. As a special thank you, every staff member donating $25 or more will automatically be enrolled in the campaign’s ongoing incentive raffles. (Prizes to be awarded at the end of November include a new 10-inch Acer tablet, a set of movie passes, and Speedy’s gift cards.) Those donating $250 or more will also have a chance at a new iPad that will be raffled off at the end of the year.

“Employee gifts really do help make a difference,” notes Catherine Callaway, Vice President of Marketing and Development. “Last year, VNSNY—together with our generous employees, supporters and community partners—provided nearly $47 million in charitable care and community benefit programs. These programs improved the lives of tens of thousands of New Yorkers, young and old, and provided free and discounted direct home care services to more than 8,600 under- and uninsured individuals. The ‘Strength from Within’ campaign offers staff a chance to support our neighbors in need in a very special way, beyond what they do every day.”
