Meet the Team Behind the Teams that Provide Care to Our Patients

How well do you know VNS Health’s Contract Administration team and the many things they do on behalf of our mission? If the answer is “not well,” then keep reading. Here are 10 things you may be surprised to know about our amazing Contract Administration team!

  1. The Contract Administration team supports our Provider Services teams that interact with patients, clients and members—Home Care, Hospice, Care Management, and Behavioral Health.
  2. The Contract Administration team supports the Provider Services teams by overseeing the vendors that our clinicians use for patient care. Because the Contract Administration team directly interacts with these vendors, the Provider Services teams can focus on providing the best possible care to our patients
  3. If a patient needs a home health aide or a lab test, or if a clinician needs a safety/security escort or a translation service, the Contract Administration team is on it! The Contract Administration team is standing by to manage or trouble shoot any durable medical delivery/supplies order or delivery.
  4. The Contract Administration department comprises five teams:

    • Placement Coordination — Handles requests for home health aides, safety/security escorts, and translation services.
    • Lab/DME/Supply — Manages orders for labs, durable medical equipment (wheelchair, walker, etc.), and other medical supplies.
    • Billing Compliance — Processes invoices from vendors, including the agencies that provide home health aides.
    • Audit — Ensures vendors are up to date on all compliance, certifications, and training regulations.
    • Operations Analysts — This group reviews how the Contract Administration team operates, collects data, and finds ways to improve service.
  5. On average, Contract Administration team members have 19-plus years of Contract Administration experience.
  6. And that experience shows! Collectively, the Contract Administration team manages over $40 million dollars of services annually. These team members seamlessly process over 124,000 requests each year for home health aides, safety/security escorts, translation services, lab services, durable medical equipment, and medical supply orders. For example, the team typically gets 50 to 60 requests per day just for home health aides.
  7. Here’s where else all that experience shows: On average, 92% of calls for HHA-related requests are answered within 30 seconds by Contract Administration team members!
  8. The team is available 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including holidays, to receive requests for service and resolve any issues that might come up.
  9. In short, the Contract Administration team are the liaisons for VNS Health clinicians and other team members whenever they need HHAs, lab services, durable medical equipment and supplies, safety/security escorts, and translation services.
