Human Resources (HR) recently rolled out its innovative People & Culture Strategy, which includes a reorganization of the HR function into four teams – or ”Centers of Expertise” (CoEs).

The four CoEs are:

  • Culture & Inclusion
  • People Support (including HR Business Partners)
  • Talent & Learning
  • Total Rewards

These four CoEs have launched a number of exciting initiatives to support the success and growth of VNS Health team members and the organization itself. Here’s what several VNS Health colleagues outside of HR are saying about the new programs:

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with, as well as being the customer of the Total Rewards Team. I’m always impressed with the team’s dedication to our employee experience.”

Adam Lefebvre, Director, Process Improvement & Innovation

“VNS Health having a Culture and Inclusion Team sends an important message to current and future team members that they matter. Listening to staff and understanding what is important to them shows we care about the things that impact their life—the way they work, the opportunities they have to grow and develop, and their sense of belonging here in this organization.”

Tara Noto, Vice President, Behavioral Health Programs

“Having an HR Business Partner has been a tremendous support to the business and to me as a business leader. Having never worked under this model before, it was a major change from how HR functioned in previous organizations.”

Jim Rolla, Senior Vice President, VNS Health Personal Care

These changes are a direct result of an “employee listening tour” that EVP and Chief People Officer Tracy Dodd conducted, which included one-on-one interviews, analyzing survey data, visiting nurses and HHAs in the field, and hosting over 20 Employee Roundtables with team members at all levels across the organization. Drawing on the feedback from this listening tour, the new HR teams and initiatives are designed to enhance the experience of candidates, team members, VNS Health as a whole, and—by extension—our patients, members, and clients.

”Reimagining the way we design, develop, and deliver people strategies and solutions will ensure we attract and retain the talent we need now and in the future,” says Tracy. “And having an engaged, inspired, and empowered team will also ensure we execute on our growth strategy and become ‘One VNS Health’.”

Here are just some of the ways these new CoEs are enhancing the experience of VNS Health team members. Click on the team names below to read more about each area:

Culture & Inclusion CoE: A Focus on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging As Well As Listening and Support

The Culture and Inclusion team helps drive an improved employee experience by building and implementing VNS Health’s strategies around Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging; our Employee Listening Initiative; WorkNow@VNS Health, focused on hybrid collaboration; and our digital workplace. In addition, the team contributes to strategies and initiatives connected to evolving the role of people leaders at VNS Health, along with the Talent & Learning team and our HR Business Partners. Building on the great work of the Anti-Racism Council (ARC), the Culture & Inclusion team also oversees a new Inclusion Council and an expanded set of Employee Resource Groups.

People Support CoE: Providing Vital Links Inside and Outside VNS Health

The People Support team includes our HR Business Partners, HR Manager, and HR Generalists as well as our Employee and Labor Relations Team. The HR Business Partners serve as both the link between business leaders and the HR Centers of Excellence and as a strategic consultant for the department’s leadership team to support them in translating business goals into workforce planning. The Employee and Labor Relations team focuses on resolving disputes, collaborating with union leadership, and ensuring we are fair in our policies and in our practices overall.

Talent & Learning CoE: Attracting Talent, Reshaping Talent Management, and Providing New Opportunities for Learning and Development

This team supports VNS Health’s People & Culture Strategy through its focus on three key areas: Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, and Learning & Development.

Talent Acquisition includes sourcing and recruiting talent, promoting our culture through our social media channels and creating an engaging and inclusive, easy-to-navigate pre-boarding experience for job candidates. In addition, the Clinical Development Center (CDC) focuses on increasing our pipeline of clinical talent through outreach to colleges and universities, recruiting from within, and fostering a culture of learning through clinical career pathways that help team members successfully advance up the clinical ladder.

The team’s Talent Management aspect is responsible for key enterprise talent processes such as OKRs, performance management, career development, onboarding, talent reviews and succession planning.

The team’s Learning & Development programs provide a portfolio of learning offerings and solutions for all employees. In March of this year, for instance, the team implemented LinkedIn Learning for employees at VNS Health, which provides access to more than 17,500 micro-learning videos and courses in seven languages. The team has also launched a new development program for managers called Leading People & Culture, which is directly aligned to the People & Culture Strategy.

Total Rewards CoE: We’re Here for You at Work… and at Home

One clear and consistent message we’ve heard through our employee listening sessions, exit interviews, and recruitment efforts is that VNS Health team members and candidates are seeking a robust and customized suite of benefits, ranging from compensation to work-life balance. The Total Rewards team understands that a strong and competitive Total Rewards program makes VNS Health a more desirable place to work. To that end, the team is dedicated to developing and administering a range of offerings to support the whole person, both at work and outside of it, so they can thrive in both arenas.
