What’s Something Unique About Yourself That Your VNS Health Colleagues Might Be Surprised to Learn?
September 23, 2024–120 Home Health Aide team members responded to our August raffle question: “What’s something unique about yourself that your VNS Health colleagues might be surprised to learn?” We received fantastic responses! Some HHAs shared their hobbies, including singing, reading, and cooking, while others offered fun insights into their personal lives, such as details about their children or favorite daily routines. Several highlighted past and current aspirations, with dreams ranging from building a big family to teaching skiing or even traveling to outer space. We also heard from HHAs who have learned multiple languages or earned advanced degrees, and others with remarkable achievements like winning gold medals in international athletic competitions. Three $200 Prizes: We took the names of all the HHA team members who participated in the August raffle question, put them together, and drew three at random. “What Do You Like Best About Being a Home Health Aide?”
August 29, 2024–That’s the question we asked for our July raffle—and our wonderful HHA team delivered! We received more than 245 terrific responses! If you didn’t participate, we really hope you will for our next raffle question. Each month, we take the names of all the HHA team members who participated in that month’s raffle question and draw three at random to receive a $200 award! We Asked, “What Is One Special Thing You Do to Take Care of Yourself Every Day?” Your Answers Were Inspiring!
August 13, 2024–291 Home Health Aide team members responded to our June raffle question: “What is one special thing you do to take care of yourself every day?” We received great responses! HHAs told us how they are prioritizing self-care to boost efficiency, prevent burnout, and maintain their overall quality of life. A large number of survey respondents mentioned walking and other forms of exercise as part of their daily self-care routine, and many HHAs also said they make it a point to eat healthy foods. Other responses focused on mental health practices like reading, listening to music, meditating, and praying. Three $200 Prizes: We took the names of all the HHA team members who participated in the June raffle question, put them together, and drew three at random. We Asked: What Food Do You Like to Make for Your Clients? You Gave Us the World!
July 22, 2024–Over 185 VNS Health Home Health Aides responded to our May raffle question: “Do you have a favorite dish or special type of food that you like to make for your clients?” We received wonderful descriptions of dishes from cultures around the world, including Korean, Chinese, Dominican, Italian, Creole, Hungarian and Jamaican dishes, just to name a few! These responses from our HHAs showcase our diverse team and clients as well as the importance of food as a universal language. Sharing food helps us celebrate our diversity and encourage empathy and understanding in a delicious and very real way. By sharing meals and cooking practices, we gain insights into the history, values and social customs of different communities and cultures. Traditional dishes often tell stories of ancestral heritage, regional ingredients, and festive celebrations—creating connections that go beyond geography and language. Common themes included clients who made happy work environments, friendly greetings, being treated with mutual respect, and being treated like family. “What’s a Little Thing You Do to Brighten Your Client’s Day?”
February 27, 2024–The above question is the first entry in a new monthly raffle the VNS Health Personal Care team just launched: Each month, home health aide (HHA) team members will be asked a question about the care they provide to their patients and clients. There will be a different question every month—and from among those who answer the question, three HHAs will be picked at random to receive a prize. (To see this month’s winners, click here.) More than 400 HHA team members responded to this first question. Of that group, 33% said they brighten their client’s day by cooking their client’s favorite meal… 18% replied that they sing, dance, or play music (one HHA plays Bob Marley for their client, another plays Tina Turner)… and 17% said they share a cheerful smile or say something positive to their patient or client.
