We Asked, “Why is Your Favorite VNS Health Client Your Favorite?” Here’s What We Heard!
188 Home Health Aide team members responded to our April raffle question—“Why is your favorite VNS Health client your favorite?”
What great responses we received! Common themes included clients who made happy work environments, friendly greetings, being treated with mutual respect, and being treated like family. To see for yourself, here, below, are just some of the responses we received.

We took the names of all the HHA team members who participated in the April raffle question, put them together, and drew three at random. The winning team members, who each received $200, were Eileen Lowe, Jean Clarke, and Violetta Yasinskaya. If you didn’t participate, we hope you’ll participate in our next raffle question!

Deborah Thompson: “I don’t have one favorite client—I have two! They’re a couple who just celebrated 70 years of marriage. The story of how they met and moved to America with their children to build a life here is just so beautiful. They still make each other smile, and when one is sick the other one feels their discomfort. They are the epitome of true love, friendship, and happiness.”
Michelle Garcia: “My favorite patient is a beautiful lady. Over time, I had the opportunity to motivate her to love life more and take advantage of all opportunities. She always sought to please me, and she listened to old vinyl records of Latin music on her record player. She made me sing and, of course, dance a little, and she felt very happy to see me happy. I think it was the way she wanted to say ‘thank you’ for all the attention I give her.”
Maria Colon: “Since the first day, my favorite client was the sweetest and so welcoming. She has such an amazing sense of humor, and we laugh together and talk. I have learned from her how to take care of plants and grow vegetables. She has even shown me certain ways to cook when she’s able. She is a beautiful soul inside and out.”
Carolyn Mann: “My favorite client has limited mobility and is confined to a wheelchair. She is inspiringly intelligent and independent in light of her circumstances. She never complains about her limitations and lives her life with optimism and self-sufficiency. It is always a pleasure to work with her.”
Shivonne Hetteymer–McGuire: “My favorite client would always encourage me to do the thing that I like, which is sewing. Every time I made a piece, he would grade it. He always spoke the truth, which I appreciated. We used to laugh together watching old movies and Tik Tok videos. I miss him!”
Annmarie Green: “My client is wonderful. She makes me laugh every single day. She loves music, she dances, and she tells me old stories when we go for walks. She always walks with bread crumbs to feed the birds.”
Roberto De La Cruz: “My client is my favorite because we have many things in common: We both served our country as Marines and we’re the same age. I’ve been with him for almost 12 years. He makes me laugh, he has plenty of funny stories, and he never gives me any problems.”
Jissell Taveras: “My favorite client taught me to be patient with others, that in life no matter what illness we have, we have to offer help and that, in the worst moments, we have to be strong, no matter the situation we have been through. I love working with this one person because even in the most difficult moments, I know how to get a smile, I love going to this person every day because apart from the fact that it is a job, he teaches a lesson about daily life and has shown me that each day in my life counts.”
