Without Home Health Care, What’s at Stake?
October 13, 2025–That’s the question being asked in a series of one-minute videos that that our Government Affairs and Communications teams have collaborated on and that our Social Media team is pushing out on all of our social media platforms. For next year (2026 is less than 3 months away!), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has proposed an unprecedented 9% cut to Medicare home health care reimbursement rates. We’re talking millions of dollars of cuts to the care we provide! This proposed reduction comes on top of cuts and underpayments since 2020 that have already sharply reduced access to home health care for millions of Americans—including thousands of our own patients and Medicare enrollees throughout New York State. Impact Challenge Update: Six Months Later, Here’s How the Five Final Round Teams Are Doing
April 25, 2022–Last year, VNSNY held its first-ever VNSNY Impact Challenge. The competition culminated in a final round last September, where five teams of VNSNY employees from across the organization presented their proposals on how to address a health disparity in the community to an expert panel. In the end, the panel was so impressed by all five VNSNY Impact Challenge presentations that they decided to provide funding to each team. VNSNY Celebrates National Volunteer Week
April 18, 2022–Sending heartfelt thanks to our generous volunteers and volunteer interns! In 1957, Martin Luther King, Jr. told an audience in Montgomery, Alabama: “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” This inspirational call to action speaks to the spirit of National Volunteer Week (April 17-23), as we recognize the millions of volunteers around the nation who are answering Dr. King’s question through their generosity and actions. This week, VNSNY celebrates the 351 volunteers who supported our mission by donating their services to programs throughout the organization in 2021, providing a total of 21,570 service hours—valued at $615,608—over the past year. Our volunteers also brought in $95,229 to VNSNY through their fund-raising efforts in 2021, donated PPE worth $263,718 to the organization, and gave the equivalent of $40,280 in other gift-in-kind donations. “Volunteers are crucial to VNSNY. March 25, 2022–Is your PC loading slowly or not at all? Is an application rejecting your credentials? Did the dog eat your tablet’s charging cord? (We’re not kidding—see #6 below.) For these problems and countless more, you know where to go for help: VNSNY’s IT Service Desk, reachable through their phone hotline at 212-290-3555—where you can talk to a live human being 24/7, 365 days a year—or through the Self Service Request Portal. While there’s a good chance you’ve contacted them at least once, here are nine things you may not know about the Service Desk: 1) The IT Service Desk gets about 4,000 calls a month, with Monday and Tuesday the busiest days and 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. the busiest times.
