Trusted by New Yorkers for 125 Years and Counting. 2018 is a very special year for the Visiting Nurse Service of New York. It is our quasquicentennial anniversary, marking 125 years of VNS Health’s commitment and contribution to the health and well-being of the New York community and our most vulnerable residents.

June 5, 2018–A groundbreaking visionary, Lillian Wald left behind an amazing legacy that includes, among other impressive accomplishments, New York City public playgrounds, equal rights advocacy, public health nursing, school nurses and, of course, the Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY). In celebration of VNSNY’s 125th anniversary, the VNSNY Marketing Department worked with a noted Lillian Wald documentarian to create a short video about Lillian Wald’s trailblazing work that captures VNSNY’s early years. Produced from hours of long-forgotten film footage and hundreds of photos dating back to the 1920s, this visual record covers Lillian’s innovative contributions, from the transformation of public health to the establishment of a social safety-net for vulnerable Americans. New York Times Ad Highlights What VNSNY Does Every Day—That Is, What You Do Every Day!

May 24, 2018–This past Sunday, May 20th, VNSNY’s new “Touching Lives” branding campaign debuted in New York Times Magazine’s annual Health Issue. The ad, depicting a VNSNY clinician providing physical therapy to an elderly New Yorker, appeared on page 19—directly opposite an installment of Dr. Lisa Sanders’ popular medical mysteries column “Diagnosis.” Circulation of The New York Times Magazine is over one million—more than one-third of whom live within the New York metropolitan area—with an estimated three-plus readers per copy. “The fact that this ad is also reaching millions of readers outside New York is an added benefit, since many of those readers are transplants with loved ones living in our service area,” notes Catherine Callaway, Vice President, Marketing and Development. May 2, 2018–This month, Visiting Nurse Service of New York is launching a new brand advertising campaign for the first time in ten years, reaching key audiences through a comprehensive multi-media plan. The campaign, Touching Lives, is timed to coincide with the 125th anniversary of Lillian Wald’s founding of VNSNY. The goal is to build awareness of VNSNY’s incomparable legacy as a healthcare pioneer, and its continued commitment to deliver programs and services that support individual health and well-being at home and in the community. The advertising campaign is aimed at current and prospective patients, members and their caregivers. 2018 Marks VNSNY’s 125th Anniversary!

February 6, 2018–Trusted by New Yorkers for 125 Years and Counting.  2018 is a very special year for the Visiting Nurse Service of New York. It is our quasquicentennial anniversary, marking 125 years of VNSNY’s commitment and contribution to the health and well-being of the New York community and our most vulnerable residents. 125 years ago this March, Lillian Wald, freshly graduated from nursing school, was teaching a home nursing course for immigrant mothers on the crowded Lower East Side of Manhattan when a little girl asked her to come attend to her ailing mother. The experience of caring for the woman, who lay suffering in the filthy bed of her tenement apartment, shook Lillian to her core. At that moment, she decided she would devote her life to caring for the poor and vulnerable. A few months later, supported by philanthropists such as Jacob Schiff, Lillian Wald and her nursing school
