We Asked, “What Is One Special Thing You Do to Take Care of Yourself Every Day?” Your Answers Were Inspiring!
291 Home Health Aide team members responded to our June raffle question: “What is one special thing you do to take care of yourself every day?”
We received great responses! HHAs told us how they are prioritizing self-care to boost efficiency, prevent burnout, and maintain their overall quality of life.
A large number of survey respondents mentioned walking and other forms of exercise as part of their daily self-care routine, and many HHAs also said they make it a point to eat healthy foods. Other responses focused on mental health practices like reading, listening to music, meditating, and praying.
Three $200 Prizes: We took the names of all the HHA team members who participated in the June raffle question, put them together, and drew three at random. The winning team members, who each received $200, were Pinghua Zhu, Shauntae Johnson, and Donnette Bancroft.

Euphemia Jackson: “I eat healthy, and I take walks to maintain my health. I also like to do puzzles to keep my mind sharp and I read while riding the bus or train. I exercise to keep my body mobile. I love myself unconditionally.”
Nerva Medina: “I love to knit, and I like journaling about my goals. I also enjoy listening to my podcast, called Baby Mama No Drama, on my way to work. It’s my guilty pleasure!”
Ramkumarie Mohanlall: “I do a number of things to take care of myself, but most importantly I love listening to music and doing crosswords, so in my spare time at home I make myself happy.”
Sobeida Kevelier: “I meditate in the morning before going to work. Also, I go for long walks by the river paths three or four times a week.”
Yocatiz Antonio: “In my free time I like walking, word searches, spending time with my children in the park, and reading.”
Thalia Lankford: “One special thing I do is to have a day to myself—not so much for isolating myself but just having time to spend alone. I like to catch up on self-care, go out, have something to eat, and probably get something while I’m out. I like to do this once or twice a month.”
