This summer, VNSNY will begin rolling out Workday, a new human resources and finance software system for all of us to use! With Workday, you will be able to put in for PTO hours from your phone or tablet when you’re on the go… and you’ll be able to have your HR information organized the way you want it on your own personalized home page—and then be able to check your benefits from wherever you happen to be, 24/7.

Why are we bringing Workday to VNSNY? The goal is to make managing our work life easier. We’ve heard from you many times that we use too many systems, including PeopleSoft, Workbrain and Oracle. And we’ve heard that those systems don’t work on our mobile devices, which is quite inconvenient. Plus, all three systems sit on servers in a data center, when one system could sit in the “cloud” and improve the way we operate at a lower cost to VNSNY.

So, we are making the move! Here is how Andrew Wise, Vice President, Talent Management & Organizational Development, who is helping lead the transition to Workday, explains some of what the new system offers us: “From their personalized Workday home page, employees can securely review their payroll and benefits information, record their work hours and request time off, and even post kudos to a colleague for a job well done.”

Adds Kerry Parker, Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer, “As managers, we’ll be able to access real-time data and reports on budgets, expenses, procurement, talent management, and time tracking.”

Workday will be rolled out in phases and will be supported by education and training prior to launch, including in-person training for some staff. We will also provide ongoing support for Workday throughout each phase.

“Workday is another important tool to help us achieve the 6 goals in our three-year plan that are driving us to the 7th goal of financial sustainability,” says Dan Savitt, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. “It increases access to information, reduces administrative burdens, and facilitates our ability to attract and retain talent.”
