Raising Hospice Awareness in New York’s Chinese Community
June 15, 2024
A series of educational workshops hosted by VNS Health is raising awareness and dispelling common myths about hospice care among New York City’s Chinese residents. “By addressing these misconceptions, our aim is to help more people in New York’s Chinese community access the compassionate care that hospice provides,” said Teresa M. Lin, Vice President, Cultural Market Development. To date, over 15 educational workshops have been held at VNS Health’s community centers in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn as well as senior centers around the city, with more than 1,000 people attending. Conducted in Mandarin and/or Cantonese, the workshops are part of a broader campaign that includes print articles in major Chinese-language media outlets.
