FAQ #76: Answers from February 8th CEO Conference Call
February 11, 2022–The following FAQs were adapted from questions submitted by VNSNY staff for the CEO Conference Calls hosted by Dan Savitt on Tuesday, February 8th Q. Would you review any work we have done or are doing to strengthen interoperability across health information systems within and externally? A. That’s a great question, and this would be one that would be wonderful for our CIO, Bob Plaszcz, if he were on today, which he’s not. He had to be off. But we have quite a bit of work and focus on connecting our data internally, of course, and that’s always the challenge. So, how we ensure that we bring all our data together so we can access it, while we have a number of different initiatives going on to continue to build things like our improved provider portal on the health plan side, and member portal ways that they can access their data.

Will staff working remotely be allocated time from their workday to travel to their closest location to receive a flu shot? A: It seems that flu shots are only available during normal business hours. So, remember that you do not need to come to a VNSNY location to get flu shots. You can go to CVS, Duane Reade, Walgreens, you can go to your private MD, you can go to a mobile health site. And all of those are offering flu shots throughout the workday, and some of those locations are even open

Employee Health and Safety What is the schedule for administering the flu shot? Right now, you can get vouchers for flu shots at CVS, Duane Reade, and Walgreens. You can make an appointment for mobile health. And shortly we will be announcing when we are providing flu shots at our regional offices. So, those are the options that we have available to get a flu shot. What is the fax number to fax a copy of my flu shot documentation? I have been faxing and receive error messages with no answer. Employee Health and Safety On Friday, I went to CVS for my flu shot with a voucher that I printed out from VNSNY. And I was told that they don’t accept 1199 insurance. Please advise. Marian Haas: Yes. Unfortunately, some of the CVSs seem to be not following the outline for the flu vouchers that we provide. You should not be asked to show your insurance card. The voucher is sufficient for you to get a flu shot free from any CVS, Walgreens or Duane Reade that you might go to. So I’m sorry this person had difficulty at the CVS but they should not be asking you for your insurance card if

Employee Health and Safety This pertains to daily COVID health assessments. If the daily COVID health assessment could be shortened as the entire process takes 5 minutes of each of our mornings to complete, it would be greatly appreciated. So I complete this every morning, because I’m in the office each day. And I found that, to me, it does not take 5 minutes. It’s probably all of a minute to be able to go through. Employee Health and Safety I work from home. Can I go to the VNSNY office in my borough for the flu shot? I feel it’s the safer option than CVS, Walgreen’s, or Duane Reade. Michael Bernstein, Chief Administrative Officer: One of my areas of oversight is facilities. So I can report that we have identified rooms in all of our regional offices and our 220 office in Manhattan for health services to administer flu shots. Employee Health and Safety Thank you for keeping us as informed as possible. Is it possible to get a flu shot at 220 E 42nd Street? Not to cause an influx of employees coming to employee health services, I just trust them the most and I’m in the neighborhood at times. So we are planning to offer flu shots here at our 220 location. We’re waiting for a flu shot vaccine to be delivered. We’re hoping that it is imminent. We did get some vaccine for individuals over the age of 65. So we’re waiting to get our full compliments of vaccine in, and then we will be providing that information to staff so that they can schedule
