Impact Challenge Update: Six Months Later, Here’s How the Five Final Round Teams Are Doing
April 25, 2022–Last year, VNSNY held its first-ever VNSNY Impact Challenge. The competition culminated in a final round last September, where five teams of VNSNY employees from across the organization presented their proposals on how to address a health disparity in the community to an expert panel. In the end, the panel was so impressed by all five VNSNY Impact Challenge presentations that they decided to provide funding to each team. Since then, the VNSNY Impact Challenge team members have been working to make their ideas a reality. So how are the five teams doing with their health disparity proposals? As the First Year Draws to a Close, Impact Challenge Teams Report Game-Changing Results
December 14, 2022–It’s been a little over a year since VNS Health held its Impact Challenge, where five final round teams presented ideas for reducing heath disparities in our communities. So how are the initiatives doing? All five teams have reported game-changing progress this past year, so let’s dive in! 16 New Nurse Residents – and Counting! Team Nurse Residency, whose goal is to expand VNS Health’s Nurse Residency program to serve health needs in underserved areas, launched its fifth cohort with nine new residents in October, including two based in the Bronx. The program has also recruited seven new hires for the April 2023 cohort. This makes a total of 16 new nurse residents recruited since the project launched—including three nurse residents for the Bronx, one of our areas of focus. To learn more, click here. My Thoughts On Recent Events
May 23, 2022–May 23, 2022 Dear Colleagues, Unconscionable violence is far too common in our country today. It seems that not a month goes by without a heartbreaking report of a mass shooting causing serious injury and loss of life. The latest massacre that occurred on May 14th in Buffalo, New York made me physically ill – the act itself and the ideology that fueled it. So much so, I tucked it away in an attempt to move forward, ignoring an opportunity to express my outrage and our organization’s clear position on violence and hate. I can also see in myself that I have started to become numb to these events; perhaps you can relate. On reflection, though, I realize that was a mistake. Whether it is a mass shooting or a bombing by hate-filled individuals or a cowardly act committed against a single member of our community, we must continue to express
We Are All VNS Health!
May 18, 2022–Since March 31st, we’ve asked you to keep our new name under wraps so we all had time to get used to our name change. As of today, we are no longer VNSNY. We are VNS Health, and it is okay to start saying VNS Health to everyone. This is a very exciting and historic day for all of us and for our organization! This morning we released an announcement to the press, we kicked off our new consumer advertising on TV, outdoors and on websites, and we launched vnshealth.org – our new website – along with a totally redesigned Frontline website. To help celebrate this important milestone, we’re holding two VNS Health open houses today in our third floor Grand Cafe at our 220 East 42nd Street Office. The first event is from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the second from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Our new advertising campaign
