Partners in Care Holds Its 37th Annual Partners in Care Service Awards Ceremony
On Monday evening, over 200 VNSNY staff, friends, and families came together on Zoom to recognize the outstanding achievements and dedication of Partners in Care staff, and in particular the honorees of the 2020 Partners in Care Service Awards (virtual) ceremony. Also honored were employees celebrating milestone anniversaries within the organization.
“As we all know, the past 10 months during the COVID-19 pandemic have been very stressful and challenging,” said an elegantly tuxedoed Jim Rolla, Senior Vice President for Partners in Care, in his welcome speech. “Our home health aides have been true heroes in every sense of the word. They’ve gone above and beyond caring for our clients during this pandemic, including learning new safety protocols on how to work in the field and how to care for COVID patients.”
Among the highlights was an inspiring video celebrating VNSNY’s legacy of in-home care over the decades and the 37-year history of Partners in Care. (You can watch the video by clicking here.) The video featured an inspirational spotlight on several of today’s HHA heroes whose passion for the important work they do is palpable—and, given the pandemic, particularly vital and courageous. On a much sadder note, there was a collective moment of silence and photo tribute dedicated to nine beloved colleagues who lost their lives to COVID-19. During the awards ceremony, as a special surprise—even to Marki herself—Associate Director Rosa Marcus presented VNSNY CEO and President Marki Flannery with a plaque of her own, quoting Maya Angelou: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said; people will forget what you did; but people will never forget how you made them feel.” In turn, an emotional Marki, who leaves VNSNY at the end of January, gave a heartfelt tribute to all of the heroes across the organization.
Arcina Batista, last year’s RICHARD FLENDER GRACE AWARD winner, delivered heartfelt closing remarks.
