We Asked Our HHAs: What Achievement Made You Most Proud? Read the Responses!
Each month, our Home Health Aide team members have a chance to answer a different question related to their work, hobbies, and other topics. The HHAs who respond get entered into a monthly raffle where they have a chance to win a gift card, and a selection of that month’s responses is also shared with the rest of their HHA colleagues.
This past month, the question they answered was, “What achievement made you most proud in 2025?” Nearly 300 HHAs replied, and their responses were incredibly heartfelt—as you can see from the following examples. This month’s raffle winners are Nora Delgado de Bailon, Gloria Kingston, and Lourdes Villagran.
Building Strong and Trusting Relationships

Building strong and trusting relationships with clients and family members was one of the most often-mentioned achievements…
- “Being able to bring comfort and joy to Hospice patients that I have the chance to take care of,” said Shellaun Harper.
- “I love when I have the opportunity to engage with a client for the very first time and to learn about them,” said Jeniffer Rajnarain. “We all have a different story, and should be understood and served appropriately. I love being that ear or source of comfort to lean on.”
Being the “Go-to Person” for Smiles and Words of Encouragement

Another achievement many HHAs mentioned for 2025 was being able to bring joy and a smile to a client…
- “If I can bring a smile and comfort to every client I meet and work with, that gives me the motivation to keep going,” said Lorena Morocho.
- “When I returned to work after a month of recovering from a surgery, my patient hugged me and shed tears of joy,” recalled Helena Akhtar.
- “I brought joy by playing dominoes and drawing with my client, listening to them when they talk about their life, and having a good attitude, communication, and respect,” added Kimberlyn Martinez.
Helping Clients Achieve a Personal Milestone in Health or Independence

We also heard about many achievements in which a Home Health Aide team member helped a client achieve something important…
- “I’m proud of teaching my client exercises to relieve her anxiety and stress,” said Maria Rodriguez.
- “I’m proud to help clients feel supported and safe while maintaining their dignity,” noted Rosa Castilla.
- “I worked consistently to provide compassionate, reliable, and respectful care, especially to clients who depend on assistance for their basic needs and emotional support,” stated Muskan Bajaj. “This year, I successfully helped clients maintain their independence, dignity, and comfort in their own homes.”
Handling Challenging Situations Professionally and Patiently

Being a Home Health Aide can often include dealing with tricky or difficult situations. Many HHAs expressed pride in how they handled these challenges…
- “This year, I am most proud of the impact I’ve had on the clients I care for,” said Yudit Lopez. “I remained committed, responsible, and compassionate even in difficult situations.”
- “The achievement that I am most proud of is finding ways to brighten my clients’ day,” added Florenda Segovia. “This kind of care, especially in dementia patients, is very hard and stressful. When we are dancing and singing, we build a strong and trusting relationship.”
Achievements Related to Personal and Professional Development

A great number of aides also gave examples of personal and professional accomplishments…
- “I’m proud because I balanced work, school, and family life this year,” said Diana Yunga.
- “You always learn new things regarding our clients. This past year I’ve learned so much—I’ve learned how to make clients feel good and keep them happy. I love taking care of them,” stated Ydalia Baez Madrigal.
