As of Today, You’ll Be Receiving Your VNSNY News in a Much Better—and Easier—Way!

June 24, 2021–At 6:00 pm last night, a major improvement was made in the way you’ll be receiving your VNSNY news. As you begin your day today, when you click on an Internet browser (Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc.) on your VNSNY computer or other electronic device, you’ll now go straight to the Frontline home page instead of the VNSNY Intranet. Why the change? It’s to keep you better informed about things that are happening around VNSNY. You’ll Now Have Your Finger on the Pulse of the Organization. With this change, each time you go to the Intranet, you’ll be able to catch up on all of the latest VNSNY news—the latest News Briefs, letters and commendations, staff profiles, Ask VNSNY videos, and updates on new programs and initiatives, as well as our CEO Dan Savitt’s monthly show, 30 Minutes with Dan. VNSNY Impact Challenge: Defining Health Care Disparities

June 10, 2021–The VNSNY Impact Challenge will focus on reducing health care disparities. For this competition, a health care disparity is defined as: preventable differences in the burden of disease, injury, violence, or opportunities to achieve optimal health that are experienced by socially disadvantaged populations. Health disparities typically impact groups who have experienced greater obstacles to health based on their race or ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, age, mental health, sexual orientation, or gender identity. VNSNY Introduces LGBTQ+ Care Type: A New Care Delivery Model Tailored to LGBTQ+ Patients, Clients and Members

June 8, 2021–VNSNY has long been a leader in providing safe, whole-person, culturally sensitive care to all LGBTQ+ individuals. The organization is now taking this approach to the next level with the introduction this month of the LGBTQ+ Care Type care delivery model—an important step that is especially fitting during Pride Month! The “Care Type” model takes into account specific aspects of a person’s health profile. In this case, it references patients, clients and plan members who self-identified as LGBTQ+ at a referring organization and who, upon intake to VNSNY, or at any time during their care, elect to take advantage of VNSNY’s LGBTQ+ program or services. Important elements of the organization-wide program include staff training and awareness, data collection to inform and improve outcomes, and a highly collaborative and integrative approach to ensure 360-degree, inclusive care for all patients. June 2, 2021–Welcome to the latest edition of “News Briefs from Around VNSNY”— featuring quick updates on recent news and virtual events across the organization. If you have a news brief you’d like to be considered for an upcoming edition, please click here to submit your idea. VNSNY on Exhibit! Need an idea for a quick day trip? The beautiful Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk, Connecticut, is featuring an exhibit called “Health, Healing & Addiction in 19th Century America,” open to the public through October 17th. It covers the history of health care, including the extraordinary breakthroughs that led to the birth of modern medicine and public health. The exhibit also looks at rising addiction rates, which were pervasive in the 19th century through easy access to unregulated, over-the-counter “remedies.” Also on display are rare artifacts, instruments, costumes, and photographs from the Lockwood and Mathews families, as well as loans from private collections and
