About the Event:

Course Title:

“Restore: Social Service Professionals, Organizations and Communities”

Presenter:

Professor Pia Hargrove, LMSW

Course Description:

Restore is a dynamic experience to engage social service professionals around the importance of self-reflection, self-care, and use of self in engagement with the clients and communities they serve. Social service professionals in this challenging season are called to care for others, while they may also be struggling themselves. In this specially curated webinar, we will offer strategies for practitioners to exercise their clinical skills, while integrating self-reflection in the parallel process with clients. We will examine the impact of social determinants of health, and explore the intersectionality of race, culture, gender expression, health justice, community economics, immigration status, spirituality, and more. We will provide actionable steps for professionals to empower their clients while amplifying their own voices.

Presenter Bio:

As a speaker, Pia engages diverse global audiences around race and cultural humility, political agency, collective trauma and healing, and the importance of self-care. She continues to share her expertise as a professor of social work at New York University Silver with a particular emphasis on the needs of immigrant communities and those reflective of the African Diaspora.
