International Holocaust Remembrance Day

January 27, 2025

Dear Colleagues,

Today, January 27, is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which marks the anniversary of the day, 80 years ago, when the Allied troops liberated the survivors of the Auschwitz concentration camp.

This official day of remembrance, which was ratified by the United Nations in 2005, remembers the horrific killing of six million Jews, two-thirds of Europe’s Jewish population, and millions of others by the Nazi regime and its collaborators.

In the words of former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres, “We are their eyes that remember. We are their voice that cries out. The dreadful scenes flow from their dead eyes to our open ones.”

In that spirit, as you go about your day, I hope you’ll take a moment to pause and reflect on the meaning of this solemn anniversary and the lives lost in the Holocaust as we work to create a better, more humane world for all.

Thank you.
