Happy Thanksgiving and Native American Heritage Day!

November 25, 2020

With Thanksgiving almost here, I want to express my profound gratitude to everyone at VNSNY for your many contributions to our organization and for your continued dedication to our patients, members, and clients. As we count our blessings on this holiday, I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to work with such compassionate and devoted colleagues.

While this pandemic has affected how many of us are able to share this day with friends and family, let us remember that at its essence, Thanksgiving is about expressing how grateful we are for each other and all we’ve been through, an act which can bridge any distance.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge Native American Heritage Day, which takes place the day after Thanksgiving — Friday, November 27. As former president Barack Obama once said about this holiday: “It is important for all of us to understand the rich culture, tradition, and history of Native Americans and their status today, and to appreciate the contributions that First Americans have made and will continue to make to our Nation.”

So to everyone at VNSNY, I thank you again, and wish you and your loved ones an especially safe, reflective, and happy Thanksgiving, and Native American Heritage Day!
