VNS Health in 2024 — Year in Review
December 23, 2024–From our MAP plan getting a 5-Star rating to Behavioral Health opening our CCBHC in the South Bronx, it’s been a year of tremendous accomplishments at VNS Health. Here is a brief month-by-month summary of some of our most notable achievements and happenings in 2024. December 26, 2023–What a year 2023 has been! From new online portals to important milestones, from historic rainfalls to NBC-TV’s TODAY Show, here is a month-by-month summary of some of our significant accomplishments over the past year. In 2023… For the third straight year, Dan Savitt is named to the City & State Health Care Power 100 List. The Power 100 recognizes New York’s most influential leaders and decision-makers in health care. Team members mark MLK Day of Service. On January 16th, in honor of Dr. King’s spirit, 172 VNS Health team members mail greeting cards to over 2,500 VNS Health patients, members, and clients. “Win-Win” Referrals Employee Referral Program Campaign Launches. One of the best ways that VNS Health hires clinicians and home health aides is through referrals. This “Win-Win”

December 20, 2022–January MSO is launched. On January 1st, VNS Health launches its newest line of business, a Management Services Organization (MSO), which offers cost-effective solutions that deliver top-quality outcomes for health plan members while simplifying the healthcare experience for all. The MSO‘s launch represents an important new chapter for VNS Health, allowing expansion into other markets—and states! “20 Minutes with Dan” is rolled out. On January 12th, “20 Minutes with Dan” debuts, offering all of the excitement and information of the previous 30-minute editions in a shorter 20-minute video format. As the Omicron variant surges, New York State expands its vaccine mandate for health care workers to include COVID-19 vaccine boosters. December 20, 2021–January VNSNY welcomes EVP & Chief Financial Officer Keith Patterson. On January 25th, Keith Patterson joins VNSNY as our new Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He arrives with an extensive background in managed care as well as provider and other healthcare services. VNSNY CEOs named to 2021 City & State Health Power 100. Current VNSNY CEO Dan Savitt and former CEO Marki Flannery are both named to the 2021 City & State Health Power 100 list, a roster of New York’s 100 most influential public officials, health care executives, advocates and activists, academics, and labor leaders. Vaccinate VNSNY! From early January, when VNSNY opens its vaccine clinic at 220 East 42nd Street, through March 20th, when the clinic administers its last first-dose vaccinations, VNSNY nurses give out 9,000 first doses and 4,400 second doses of the Moderna vaccine—the large majority of them to VNSNY staff members. December 22, 2020–2020 has been a year like no other. And yet, despite all the challenges, VNSNY showed time and time again its capacity to deliver on its mission against all odds. As 2020 draws to a close, and as we look ahead to a brighter future in 2021, here is a glance back at many of VNSNY’s defining moments, milestones and memories over the past 12 months! January VNSNY Care360° Solutions gets its own website. In addition to its new name, the business unit for VNSNY’s care management organization launches a new, dedicated website to educate health plans and physician groups about how VNSNY Care360° Solutions can manage care for their vulnerable members and patients. IT introduces a new and improved Help Desk. After feedback from staff indicated difficulty getting IT support from the Help Desk, VNSNY rolls out a new, 24/7 service through Unity BPO, resulting in shorter call

December 18, 2019–It’s been an amazing year at VNSNY, filled with many important accomplishments! Here are some highlights of the past 12 months—plus article links for those who want to take a deeper dive into the year that was! JANUARY Marki Flannery is named one of NYS’s 50 most influential people in health care. Marki’s presence on City & State’s first-ever list of New York State’s 50 most influential people in health care outside of government reflects VNSNY’s strong reputation as a leading New York State healthcare provider and payer. CHOICE Health Plans sets new-enrollment record. In what will be a big year for CHOICE, CHOICE MLTC enrolls 1,139 new members for the months of December and January and CHOICE Total gains 530 new members in that same period—setting new-enrollment records for both plans. December 20, 2018–2018 was a year of milestones at VNSNY: In addition to being the 125th anniversary of VNSNY’s founding, it was also the 35th anniversary of Partners in Care and VNSNY Hospice, the 25th anniversary of the VNSNY Research Center, and the 20th anniversary of CHOICE Managed Long-Term Care. Here’s a look at some of the key moments that happened at VNSNY in 2018—a year marked by significant change and notable achievements. January The “Bomb Cyclone” Hits. On January 4th, the winter’s fiercest storm bringswinds of 50 miles per hour, patches of thunder and lightning, and up to a foot of steadily falling snow—but our dedicated clinicians and home health aides still make their way by mass transit, car, and on foot—and even by bicycle!—to reach the patients, clients, and members who depend on them. December 20, 2017–As 2017 draws to a close, here is a look back at just some of the many important accomplishments and milestones that took place at VNSNY over the past year. January VNSNY Gets a New CEO. Christopher Olivia, MD, becomes VNSNY’s new President and Chief Executive Officer. Cafés, Round 3. The third round of VNSNY Cafés get underway. The breakfast events are a chance for Provider Operations staff to mingle informally with colleagues, listen to some relaxing music, get a bite to eat, and hear updates about the organization and our new Value-Based Care reimbursement model. CHOICE Town Halls. VNSNY CHOICE Health Plans begins the New Year by hosting five Town Hall meetings for its staff.
