2024 Personal Care Honor Awards: Here’s the Full List – and Photos!

The Personal Care Honor Awards ceremony was held on Thursday, October 3rd at 5 Penn Plaza, where Personal Care has their offices. Here below is a complete list of all the Personal Care team members who received Honor Awards. Congratulations to all the winners!

Aura Castillo, HHA, was presented with the Richard Flender Grace Award for showing grace under pressure. One morning earlier this year, Aura arrived at work and found her patient hunched over on the sofa, unconscious. Aura immediately called 911 and, with their assistance, was able to resuscitate her patient.

Sharon George, HHA, won the Stephen V.R. Goodhue Spirit Award for her generosity, calm attitude, and amazing reliability.

Ellen Percoco-Pilutis, Clinical Care Manager, received the Clinical Professional Excellence Award. Ellen was recognized for her knowledge, hard work, team spirit, and for leading with excellence and passion.

Shama Barrett, Unit Manager, was the winner of the Management Professional Excellence Award. Shama was honored for her incredible resourcefulness and for her deep understanding of rules and guidelines.

Julie Rueca, HHA Supervisor, won the Administrative Professional Excellence Award. Julie was recognized for always going above and beyond, and for her motivation, drive and tenacity in making sure that clients receive the best possible care.

Josephine Smith, HHA Supervisor, received the Supervisor Superstar Award. Josie excels at matching clients to home health aides. She’s also responsive, agile at making changes and corrections when necessary, and a lovely personality. In short, she’s a superstar!

Maria Urbano Jose, HHA, won the Hiring Wizard Award for being, quite simply, a hiring hero!

Olufunto Gbadamosi, HHA, won the Mobile App Guru Award. Olufunto has a perfect mobile app compliance for the past two years!

Michelle Squires-Caesar, HHA,won the Recognition Phenomenon Award. Michelle consistently earns praise for her dedication, passion, and caregiving skills. So far this year, Michelle has been recognized 26 times by seven different VNS Health supervisors for the excellent work she does for the NYC Department of Health cohort.

Marva Fagon, HHA, is the winner of the Longevity Legend Award, which honors a HHA team member who may not get the recognition they deserve because they’ve cared for the same client over an extended period of time. Until this year, Marva had been with the same family, caring for a husband and wife. For 11 years, Marva provided this family with comfort, laughter, and kindness, and for that she received this year’s Longevity Legend Award.

The event’s biggest award — the James R. Withrow Jr. Home Health Aide of the Year Award — was presented to HHA team member Monica White!

Monica, who’s been with the organization for over 10 years, is the epitome of reliability and excellence in care. In her decade of service, Monica has never received a single complaint from a patient or family member. She never shows up late, and she consistently demonstrates an unwavering commitment to her work — whether it’s providing care to bedbound patients, managing Hoyer lifts, or caring for individuals with dementia. Congratulations, Monica!
