When Maya first joined VNSNY in January of 2016, she was a Contracts Specialist for CHOICE. In 2017, she was promoted to Contracts Manager. “When a job opportunity in Compliance came up in 2018, it was very attractive to me because it allowed me to go from division-specific work to getting involved with what the organization was doing as a whole,” she says. Recently promoted to Director, Compliance & Legal Operations, Maya oversees core business activities for Compliance and Legal, which includes budgeting, project oversight, workflow optimization, systems development, and process improvement.

“I love that I’m a part of a really strong team of compliance, legal, and government affairs professionals. We have a great, collaborative team culture, and we also partner directly with the business and operations teams to successfully launch new or enhanced services and products,” she says. “The most rewarding part of my job is collaborating with a fantastic team of dedicated professionals and collectively working towards realizing VNSNY’s mission of improving the health and well-being of the people we serve, both in the home and in the community.”

VNSNY’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic has also been a source of pride for Maya. “We really stepped up in offering the vaccine to our staff, which included repurposing part of our office space as a temporary vaccination clinic,” she says. “And when New York City selected VNSNY as one of its contracted providers for an in-home vaccination program for homebound New Yorkers, I was thrilled to be part of that project as well, figuring out the logistics and working with the quality and clinical operations teams to make sure it was a success. Working on that project was a real highlight of my career.”
